This year, our program will award the BFT Scholarship and the Greg Joyce Memorial Scholarship.

Type of Scholarship One-time scholarship to be used toward tuition for an angler’s continuing education at a 2- or 4-year public or private college or an accredited vocational or trade school. Eligibility Applicants must be graduating seniors at TWHS that are members in good standing (All dues/fees paid, required paperwork complete, and UIL eligible) on TWHS BFT. Selection Criteria Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on active participation hours (competitive fishing and volunteer/service hours) and impact they have had on the team. The Greg Joyce Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who exemplifies Greg's dedication to serving others. Seniors who would like to apply for the Greg Joyce Memorial Scholarship should submit an essay in addition to the scholarship application form about what being part of BFT has meant to them. Selection Committee Selection Committee will be made up of (1) TWHS BFT academic sponsor, and (2) at least one adult volunteer whose children are members in good standing on TWHS BFT, but not eligible for scholarship. Number of Scholarships There is no limit to the number of BFT scholarships awarded. The Greg Joyce Memorial Scholarship will be award to one applicant annually. Amount of Scholarship The total dollar amount of scholarships awarded shall meet the following criteria:
Individual scholarships capped at $750.00 per angler. Greg Joyce Memorial Scholarship is $1,000.
No individual scholarship shall be less than $100.00 per angler.
The total amount of scholarships awarded shall ensure that at least a $1,000.00 balance is carried over into the school year.
The amount of individual scholarships will be determined by the Selection Committee based on the Selection Criteria listed above.
Publicizing Scholarships TWHS BFT Scholarships information will be emailed to all senior team members. Scholarship Guidelines, Application and due dates will be made available online www.twhsbft.org. Documentation All applications, decisions, and scholarships will be documented and files kept for at least 7 years. Documentation shall include the following: Name, Address, Purpose of Award, Amount of Scholarship, Manner of Selection, and Relationship to BFT officers and/or Donors of funds. Scholarship Payments Scholarship payment checks will be made out to and directly mailed to the financial office of the institution of higher learning.
